Seniors Raul Hinojosa and Valentina Cardoso received THSCA 2023 Team Tennis Academic All-State awards last week.
The THSCA award recognizes seniors who are stand out in their class. They look at achievements such as sports achievements, GPA, class rank and standardized test scores.
“Being a THS student athlete is being given the opportunity to play tennis at a high level with people that I know and care about a lot,” Hinojosa said.
With this award only being recognized to a select few student its an extreme honor and rarity to achieve. Raul and Valentina were the only two students to be given this award in the district.
“When I learned I received this award I was really proud of myself for being able to manage school and tennis for my four years of high school,” Cardosa said.
Both students do not plan on playing tennis in college. Raul plans to major in mechanical engineering and would like to attend Georgetech. Valentina has not made any decisions but she would like to attend UT Austin or A&M.
