Volleyball sweeps through the week
The Cougar volleyball teams got a pair of wins last week, taking all four games against the Huntsville Hornets on Tuesday night and capping the week with a key district win against Magnolia. The wins moved Tomball to 22-9 overall, 6-1 in district.
Against Magnolia, varsity won in a hard-fought contest 23-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-15, 15-9. Brooke Johnson had 58 assists, Natalie Munuz had 25 kills and 31 digs, and Faith Allen had five aces.
Varsity won in 3 sets against Huntsville 25-16; 27-25; 25-17. Munoz was the kill leader with 12, as well as the dig leader with 16. Also, Johnson lead with 25 assists.
It was a big week for all of the teams, as JV and Freshmen A and B all won.
JV defeated Huntsville in 2 sets, then topped Magnolia in three, to improve to 17-8, 5-2.
“We really came together as a team and played strong against Huntsville”, said Caroline Kaiser, a JV sophomore, “We ran some exciting and dynamic plays.”
9A won both contests in straight sets to raise their record 18-6, 6-1. 9B is now 5-1 in district.
