HOSA chapter participated in the SLC competition, Jan. 31 to Feb. 1, with the students’ perseverance they earned several impressive wins and even made state qualifications. Eight of those students made a spot at the state competition in Round Rock, Texas, and three other students qualified for alternate positions.
“There’s so many different events that we do that lead into health related careers” Annabelle Grossgrant said.
This competition brought out the skills and knowledge of the students, so these achievements were a sign of the students commitment to the competition. Debroah Olugbusi, earned special recognition for her perfect skill score in dental science.
“I do forensic science and that’s not something I would usually take interest in,” said Julian Wong, who placed 2nd in forensic science. “But I did after competing in this competition”.
When going into SLC you can see the levels of HOSA more in depth then just a club, from local up to national level, even having teamwork events into the mix when competing.
“There’s teamwork events where you can really connect with other people who share your same interest,” Mikala Martin said.
