NJROTC held their annual veteran’s dinner at the TISD stadium’s event center before the Patriotic Show on Oct. 18. Prior to the dinner service cadets and their families arrived hours ahead of time to witness the landing of an Army Blackhawk helicopter which landed in front of the event center to help with the celebration.
The cadets also arrived early to assist the unit’s booster club in preparing for the night’s banquet. This dinner consisted of over 300 guests, including veterans and their families so they could share this commemorative occasion.
“I am very proud of my cadets for helping the veterans at the dinner and making this a huge success,” said Greg Boucher, MJROTC Commander.
During the halftime show, as cadets prepared our military service flags and their enormous American flag, the Tunnels to Towers Foundation gifted Tracey Crocket, a widow who lost her husband recently, a fully paid mortgage as a way of thanking her late husband for his service.
The veterans and Active duty service members marched on the field front and center with their service flags to the Armed Forces Medley performed by both choirs and bands of the competing schools. This was followed by the unfurling of the gigantic American flag to God Bless America.
To conclude the halftime show there was a display of fireworks and two skydivers gliding over the stadium before landing into the football field arriving to a standing ovation.
Cadets said this year’s Patriotic Show was nothing short of memorable, exhilarating, and overall an unforgettable experience.
“This year’s Patriotic Show truly blew me away, it is an unforgettable experience, and I’m so happy that I shared it with all my friends,” Cadet Jorge Quinn said.
