Students all over Texas have been relentlessly preparing over the last year, and their entire band careers, for the Texas All-State Band auditions. The final audition round is to take place on January 6th, 2024 and Tomball High School’s very own student has made it this far.
There have been three rounds of auditions already, and Tomball having students qualify thus far is no small feat. The All-State Band consists of only the top 3% of band members in Texas, so it is a very prestigious accomplishment to get a chance at performing with this high-achieving band.
Senior Emily Isaacks recalled her experience preparing for this audition.
“We’re all super excited and we’ve been working at this very hard since July specifically for this audition,” she said.
All qualifying students will be spending four days in San Antonio come February for an event hosted by the Texas Music Educators Association, in order to further their expertise at the instruments that they have worked on throughout highschool.
“This band has taught me the importance of dedication and hard work,” Isaacks said, reflecting on her experience as Drum Major. “I have made some of the best friends of my life and found my passion through music.”
