UPDATE (8/22/23, 7:35 a.m.): The depression in the Gulf of Mexico has now been upgraded to Tropical Storm Harold. The storm continues to follow the projected path into South Texas.
A storm has been brewing in the Gulf of Mexico, with a tropical depression taking aim at Texas.
The latest tracking shows the storm is heading west and will make landfall along the south/central coast of Texas. This means that the heaviest of the rain will hit south of Austin and Houston.
Tonight and tomorrow, we expect low amounts of rain in our area. This will benefit certain areas of drought, but will leave our local area without much effect, other than slightly cooler temperatures.
Certain southern parts of Texas, such as Corpus Christi and other isolated regions, are expected to see as much as 5 to 7 inches of rain. This could cause flooding along the south Texas coast.
