Opportunities for everyone to represent school in UIL

UIL stands for University Interscholastic League, which is a governing board in charge of establishing rules for High School competitive events in Texas. Competitions include events in all academic subjects, athletics, and art that are open to all students.

Joining a UIL team helps students work on developing their skills, meet new people with similar interests, and compete for scholarship opportunities.

UIL tournaments take place throughout the year, but they usually start in October. Tomball High School’s UIL teams usually participate in four tournaments before the district meet, which will be held at Waller High School around March.

To participate in UIL events, pay attention to the morning announcements and your teachers, who will receive information about the academic events at their sponsor meeting.

Mrs. Beck (room 1202) will be the debate, poetry, and prose sponsor, Mr. Youngblood (room 1300) is the the spelling, ready writing, and literary criticism sponsor, while Mr. Fordyce (room 1201) will sponsor all journalism events. All other sponsors are yet to be determined.
