Math teacher Deborah Vierkant was selected by the football team as this year’s first winner of the weekly Teacher of the Week award.

Players surprised her Friday morning in her room last week to present her a jersey to wear for the day recognizing her as the teacher the players say was the most influential to them.

Vierkant is also the winner of last year’s Mary Roach Teacher of the Year Award.
