Nosferatu (2025), directed by Rober Eggers, is a reimagining of the iconic 1922 silent film that set the standard for vampire horror. Eggers infuses gothic elements and classic elements with fresh new interpretations to create the new and improved story of Ellen and her haunting vampire.
Lily-Rose Depp’s performance as Ellen in the movie was amazing, she was able to pull off the character and had such an unpredictable way with emotions. Her companion in the movie Nicholas Hoult who plays Thomas had the intensity of fear down to a T. Bill Skarsgard, played Count Orlok and did a phenomenal job with portraying that dracula type look as well as character. It was far scarier and creepier and will cause chills down the spine.
The movie takes place in the 19 century of Germany, England. Thomas is an estate agent who travels to Transylvania to meet with the Count Orlok. After Thomas’s visit, the horror of events comes into play. His wife, Ellen is haunted by disturbing visions and characters are being controlled by a creature known as Nosferatu, Count Orlok.
At first it had a slow start but once the middle of the movie came, the suspense had a way to keep the mind wondering what was going to happen next. Every scene played out just as great as the other and it wasn’t extremely gory like most horror movies.
This movie was in a way very gothic with the sense of heavy dread, so it would be an acquired taste, but it is definitely for the horror movie fanatics and a must see.
