A sisterly bond is a special one, cultivated by shared interests, protectiveness, and undeniable trust for one another. Lucy and Katy Shomette, who grew up on the dance stage together, truly bring this bond to life.
Lucy and Katy, Sophomore and Freshman respectively, are currently on Tomball High School’s dance team, The Cougar Charms. Right now, they are both line members for the 2023-2024 season.
Both sisters are members of the Charms’ Elite Team, a group of dancers who were selected after a tryout process in the beginning of the season. They will be traveling to Florida in May with this team to compete at The Dance Worlds worldwide competition.
“I have been dancing with my sister since the age of three,” Katy Shomette said, “both of us have found passion and joy, but most importantly, something we love. Going to the Dance Worlds is a lifetime experience and its exceptional that both of us get to expand on something we have a passion for.”
In addition to this, they both competed a solo at several local competitions in Texas, placing top five in several.
Lucy and Katy also competed a duet together, which has been a tradition for the two as they have competed five duets together. This duet won first place at the MA State Contest as well as a Judges award, second runner up at the Trendsetters Regional Contest, and first runner up at the MDDT Regional Contest.
“We’ve been working on the duet since July to perform in February,” Lucy Shomette said, “it forces us to work together and to communicate our strengths and our weaknesses.”
