Volleyball opens playoffs with win

The volleyball team defeated the Eastview Patriots in an exciting five-set game, earning the title of bi-district champions and advancing to Round 2 of the playoffs.

It was a back-and-forth game with the Cougars winning the 1st and 3rd games with scores of 25-17 and 25-16. But falling short the 2nd and 4th games with scores of 20-25 and 19-25.

Ultimately, the Cougars pulled out the win with the shocking score of 15-2 in the 5th set.

The kill leaders of the night were Natalia Munoz (11) with 16, and Kendall Glueck (11) with 14. Munoz  was also the dig leader at 24.

The Libero, McKena Law (11) held it down on the back row with 23 digs. And Brooke Johnson had 54 assists, and was the ace leader with 4.

The Cougars will compete against the A&M Consolidated Tigers at Navasota High School on Friday at 6 p.m., and the girls are hoping for a large turnout.
