Baseball keeps bid for state return alive

Baseball’s advance to the playoffs has been a source of pride among the team members, who hope that this season will bring them to the state tournament for a second straight year.

After cruising to an opening round win, the Cougars needed all three games to put away a stubborn Willis team over the weekend. The Cougars dropped Game 1, but came back Friday and Saturday with tight wins to advance to the regional quarterfinals.

Next up is Bryan High School, with the firstĀ game at Madisonville High School at 7 p.m. Friday. The second is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. at Concordia University, with Game 3 to follow, if needed.
