Volleyball: Dynasty in the making?

You may know that the varsity team is rolling into playoffs with a record of 10-2, but what you might not know is that the JV and freshman teams are equally as strong and full of potential.

All three volleyball teams are doing great and are the scores are incredibly exciting. For the varsity you’re looking at 10-2, JV is at 11-1, and the freshman A team is at 11-1 and freshman B team is 10-0. So over all you’re looking at high record of wins, with few loses.

“It is a nice luxury to be able to look at the freshman and jv teams and see the level of talent we have coming up, but we take it one year at a time,” Coach Cheri Wallace said.

So while the future looks bright, the players are not looking too far ahead. Not with the district title within reach and playoffs coming up fast.

“I’m super excited about district and playoffs, and I think that we’ll do really well,” said freshman player Danielle Ward.

The team is working hard at perfecting their plays and mixing it up to a more challenging level. The varsity squad played several games against bigger Class 6A teams to help them prepare for a tough district.

The expectations are high – no less than the best.

“We expect these girls to compete every time we step on the court,” Wallace said. “We are the Tomball Cougars, and that means something.”

The team is aware of these goals, and who they need to beat to get there.

“The hardest teams I think will be Magnolia, Magnolia West, and maybe The Woodlands,” Ward said.

Magnolia West is one of the two teams to have beaten them in district.

“The team is looking good, we have good chemistry and play well together, and I think we have a good chance at winning,” Ward added.

With the close of the season coming up, the girls will be putting in the work, and expect to make it to playoffs as district champs.

They’re dynasty in the making, and looking forward to using their lively amount of potential to kick some serious butt.
