Cougar baseball ends season

There will be no repeat for the defending state champion baseball team.
After winning Game 1 of the best-of-three series against Santa Fe on Friday 7-2 despite a three-hour rain delay, the Cougars dropped both games Saturday in heartbreaking fashion.
Santa Fe won Game 2 6-5 to start the day, but the Cougars held a 2-1 lead in the final inning with just two outs to go, when the ninth batter in the lineup stroked a two-run homer to end the season for Tomball.
While the loss is disappointing for Coach Doug Rush and his players, they can still boast of a 26-6 record, a district championship and a bi-district title. Not too bad for what many had believed would be a rebuilding year.
